THE Voyage
Our expedition cruise doesn’t have a fixed “itinerary”. We will go where the wildlife is, and search for the best opportunities for you, with the help of our expert staff.
This expedition cruise is once in a lifetime opportunity to explore a region visited by very few, and in a manner reserved for the truly fortunate.
Our Arctic adventure begins in Reykjavík, Iceland. We recommend arriving a day early to enjoy this vibrant city and rest before the journey.
In the afternoon, we take a short flight (approx. 2 hours) from Keflavík International Airport (KEF) to Kulusuk (KUS) in East Greenland, landing at 18:15.
Upon arrival, we board our intimate expedition sailboat and receive a safety briefing before setting sail north.
⸻
Each night we sail across long Arctic stretches, awakening each day to explore remote fjords and untouched polar landscapes.
Highlights include:
• Kangertittivatsiaq Fjord – Towering cliffs, drifting icebergs, and rich wildlife including seals, seabirds, and polar bears.
• Nansen Fjord – Calm waters and glacial vistas named after legendary explorer Fridtjof Nansen.
• Rømer Fjord – A tranquil fjord with geothermal activity, Arctic flora, and chances to spot wildlife like musk oxen and Arctic foxes. Perfect for hiking and photography.
Today we explore the dramatic landscapes of Vestfirðir, Iceland’s remote and sparsely populated Westfjords.
With carved coastlines, cascading waterfalls, and rugged mountains, this region is visited by just 10% of Iceland’s travelers.
It’s a haven for wildlife: deep fjords are home to whales, and sheltered bays teem with seals and seabirds.
Witness a total solar eclipse in one of the most spectacular places on Earth.
As Greenland’s icebergs glow beneath the dimming sky, you’ll experience a celestial event few have ever seen in such a setting.
This day is planned for eclipse photography and observation, with expert support from our photography and astronomy guides.
It’s an unforgettable blend of science, beauty, and adventure—set against the quiet majesty of the Arctic.
Morning brings us to Alpe Fjord, lined with 2,200-meter peaks and home to the stunning Specter Glacier
In the afternoon, we explore Gat Point, known for its vivid red and yellow sandstone arches—a geological wonder.
Visit Ittoqqortoormiit, one of the most isolated communities in Greenland.
Meet the Inuit locals, explore the town, and learn about traditional hunting lifestyles near the edge of the world’s largest national park.
In the afternoon, we set sail out of Scoresbysund.
We cruise south-west toward Kulusuk. On the way, we’ll revisit lesser-known fjords or stop at one we missed.
On board:
Image review sessions and editing workshops with Roie Galitz
Lectures and discussions to reflect on our epic journey and photographic moments.
Explore Sermilik, the most iceberg-rich fjord in East Greenland.
Fed by several glaciers, including Helheim and Midgard, the fjord is filled with massive icebergs and offers excellent whale-watching opportunities.
We sail deep into the fjord, navigating as far as ice conditions permit.
Visit Tasiilaq (Angmagssalik), the largest town in East Greenland, beautifully nestled among snowy peaks and iceberg-laden waters.
Meet the locals, mostly Inuit, and gain insight into their traditions of fishing and hunting.
Look out for humpback and sperm whales on the way.
Our expedition ends in Kulusuk, home to about 200 residents.
We’ll visit the Kulusuk Museum, which tells the story of the Tunumi Inuit through the lens of local family history.
Our return flight to Reykjavík (KEF) is scheduled for 18:30, arriving at 20:00. Flight time may vary due to weather.
- The following itinerary is a sample only. This flexible expedition will be adapted each day according to weather, ice conditions, and wildlife opportunities.

Cruises FAQ
How comfortable are the boats?
While this is an expedition vessel focused on adventure, the Eldorado offers genuine luxury accommodations with every cabin featuring its own private shower and toilet. The small group size and expert crew create a personalized, upscale experience that larger vessels cannot match, combining comfort with authentic Arctic exploration.
How is the food on board?
We are working with awesome chefs, which have received amazing reviews on our previous expeditions. They make our meals with a personal touch, since we’re such a small party. But, since we are on a boat in the high Arctic, please remember that it won’t be like a restaurant in Provence, but we will do the best we can. The chef will make adjustments to your requirements in terms of allergies and food requirements (vegetarian, vegan etc.)
What should I wear?
For your Greenland expedition, layering is essential as temperatures can range from 10°C+ during the day to much colder conditions, especially during the solar eclipse when temperatures will drop noticeably.
Essential clothing to bring:
Base layers – Moisture-wicking thermal underwear (merino wool or synthetic)
Insulating layers – Fleece or down jackets for warmth
Outer shell – Waterproof and windproof jacket and pants
Warm accessories – Insulated gloves, warm hat, neck gaiter, and warm socks
Footwear – Waterproof hiking boots with good grip for zodiac landings and shore excursions
What are we doing while cruising on the boat?
We have a packed schedule with talks, presentations and information on the magical land we’re visiting, also we plan our schedule to make the large distances while we’re sleeping, so we don’t “waste” our uptime for cruising between locations.
How often do we go on land?
We will go on land as often as we need/desire and depending on the activity and opportunities. It can be even twice a day. We won’t do long hikes, and concentrate on the areas of highest interest for our expedition without wasting time at the boring locations other vessels must visit to pass the time.
